OXFORD City manager Mark Jones wants his side to build on their confidence-boosting 5-0 Emirates FA Cup win when they travel to Hemel Hempstead Town tomorrow.

City have lost three Vanarama National League South games on the trot, but thrashed Cray Valley PM 5-0 last Saturday to book their place in the third qualifying round.

And Jones hopes the performance, which included three goals from Zac McEachran, will provide the squad with a boost ahead of the trip to Hertfordshire.

He said: “We did a good professional job last Saturday, and some of our play was very good.

“I was really pleased for Zac getting a hat-trick.

“I hope that gives him a boost in confidence, because he is a quality player who has perhaps lacked a bit of confidence in recent weeks.

“The Hemel game is obviously an entirely different proposition to Cray, but we need to look at some of the good things we did last week and take that into the league.”

Jones hopes influential midfielder Rob Sinclair may be fit enough to return from a long-term hamstring problem, although City’s boss says he will not play him if there is any doubt.

“He’s made really good progress and is training again, but I won’t take too many risks,” Jones said.

“He’s a really important player, and we’ve missed his creativity.”

Udoka Godwin-Malife is sidelined due to tonsillitis.

“Udoka has been really unwell this week,” said Jones.

“I think he’s picked up a bacterial infection and he spent part of the week in hospital, so he’s definitely out for a while.”

Hemel Hempstead, who are just above City in the table, have not fired on all cylinders at home this year, with just one win on their own patch.

“I imagine it will be a game won or lost on fine margins,” Jones said.

“They’ve had a change in management, which may fire them up.

“But we just need to concentrate on our own game, because on our day, we can cause any team in the league problems.”
