OXFORD United are planning to bolster their backroom staff with several additions next month.

First-team coach Shaun Derry remains the only person brought in since head coach Karl Robinson took over in March.

The U’s boss said: “There are some big changes happening internally in the next two weeks with staff.

“There are certain structural things we’re trying to change.

“We’re not going to announce what area it’s in, but we’ve just got to make this club better from the ground up.

“By doing that you make yourself sustainable and very competitive.

“There will be a few people coming in.”

Robinson did not go into details about the exact roles they were expecting to fill.

But in the summer there was an intention to appoint someone to help liaise between the coaching staff and owner Sumrith Thanakarnjanasuth.

He is based in Thailand, but met with the staff during a visit which ended this week.

Robinson said: “We want to make this as professional as possible and that’s got to be our objective.

“I said when I walked in there were massive issues.

“We sat down and spoke this wasn’t a quick fix, there’s a lot to do here.

“In a short period a lot has changed.

“We’ve just got to bring in people with quality who have got experience in other roles.”
