WEST Oxford Democrats Club improved their chances of finishing runners-up in the Oxford & District Summer League with a 5-1 win at home to Donnington Club, writes PETE EWINS.

John Patey (6,790) put the hosts ahead before Dennis Atkins (9,090) made it 1-1.

Further wins by Billy Hill (7,140) Terry Green (4,360), Billy Hill (5,830) and Patey (6,980) completed the victory.

Donnington are still in the race for second spot along with Vikings Club, who triumphed 5-1 at home to Gladiators.

Double wins for Sean Stratford, Vinnie Brown and a single success by John Joe Kelly produced the scoreline.

Leaders Berinsfield, who were on a free week, require three points from their match at home to Bletchingdon tonight to clinch the title.
