DIDCOT Town suffered Emirates FA Cup heartbreak after losing on penalties to Hitchin Town last night.
Andy Ballard’s side were on top for most of the second qualifying round replay, but could not find a breakthough at the Loop Meadow Stadium.
With no goals in normal or extra time, the game was decided by penalties, but Matt Woodley, Morgan Williams and Luke Carnell failed to find the net as the visitors went through 3-2 on spot-kicks.
Wantage Town are still in the competition, however, after holding Hungerford Town to a 1-1 draw.
After Saturday’s match was forced to be replayed after a serious head injury to Hungerford goalkeeper Jokull Andresson, the hosts took the lead on 14 minutes last night when Conor Lynch scored from the penalty spot.
Wantage were level on 26 minutes when Ryan Markham fired home a free-kick.
Neither side could find a breakthrough, although Wantage keeper Curtis Meare pulled off a superb save at the death to deny Lynch and force a replay.
