HEADINGTON’S domination of the Oxfordshire competitions continued when they won the Oxford & District League Cup final for the fifth successive year.

In a one-sided final under Kidlington's floodlights, they romped home to a 77-38 success over Watlington to complete the double, having already captured the Division 1 title by a large margin.

Watlington, making their first appearance in the final, were looking forward to the big occasion in front of a packed house.

Unfortunately for them, Headington were quickly into their stride.

After six ends ends, they were already 24 shots ahead, with skipper Mark Charlett once again leading the charge. His rink went on to triumph 29-10.

Despite skips Shane Cooper and Steve Gilkes mounting a fightback for Watlington, Headington stretched their lead even further and the game finished with a few ends to spare.

After the match, Charlett said: ‘It’s been another great year for the club, winning the league and league cup, plus we’ve had some good performances in this year’s national competitions.

“However, I’d also like to congratulate Watlington for reaching their first final, and for getting stronger every season.”
