EDDIE Pepperell takes his final shot at automatic qualification for the Ryder Cup team when he tees off in Denmark today.
But the Abingdon golfer also has an opportunity to push his claims for a surprise wildcard selection, after being paired for the first two days with Europe captain Thomas Bjorn.
Pepperell will claim the final automatic spot if he wins at Silkeborg on Sunday and Thorbjorn Olesen finishes outside the top 12.
Failing that, his last chance would be as one of Bjorn’s four wildcard picks.
The Frilford Heath member is an outsider, but has a chance to impress when they tee off alongside Germany’s Martin Kaymer at 12.30pm (BST).
