THREE quickfire goals late in the second half gave Oxford City an impressive 3-0 victory over Wealdstone this afternoon.

Kabongo Tshimanga fired Mark Jones’s side ahead on 72 minutes, before Matt Paterson scored penalties on 81 and 84 minutes to clinch the three points.

It moved City up to ninth place in Vanarama National League South and extended their unbeaten run to four games.

Tshimanga forced visiting goalkeeper Jonathan North into a save on five minutes, and soon after just failed to find Paterson with a driven ball across goal.

At the other end, Craig King had to be alert to deny David Pratt.

City’s goalkeeper then had to be at his best to keep out an effort from Bradley Hudson-Odoi.

Eddie Jones went close for the hosts soon after half-time, finding himself clear on the edge of the box, only to fire a shot wide of the target.

King comfortably kept out a Matt Lench header, before City took control late on.

With 20 minutes to go Tshimanga spurned a great chance when Udoka Godwin-Malife found the striker unmarked in the box, but he could only drag his shot wide.

However, City’s No 10 made immediate amends two minutes later.

After receiving the ball on the edge of the box, Tshimanga fired past North to put his side in front.

They doubled their advantage when Zac McEachran was fouled in the box with nine minutes to go, and Paterson sent North the wrong way from the spot.

And the same player made the result safe just three minutes later.

Tshimanga was this time brought down in the area, and Paterson’s spot-kick left North rooted to the spot to round off an impressive performance.
