OXFORDSHIRE'S Eddie Pepperell produced a superb opening round in the Czech Masters today.

The Abingdon golfer shot a six-under-par 66 in Prague, with seven birdies and one bogey.

Starting at the tenth, Pepperell made a flying start by picking up two shots in the opening three holes.

After four pars, the only blemish came on his eighth hole with a bogey five.

But he hit straight back with three successive birdies.

He picked up further shots on his 13th and 16th holes to further climb the leaderboard.

Liam Robinson, attached to Tadmarton Heath GC, finished on level par after an eventful round.

Like Pepperell, Robinson fired seven birdies, but five bogeys and a double bogey saw his progress halted.
