Morris Motors Exiles have been relegated to Division 3 of The Oxford Times Cherwell League after fielding a player under a false name.

Batting star Nitin Sehgal played under the name of second teamer Sam Muthu in Motors' Division 2 draw with Tiddington on May 26.

Sehgal was registered under his own name in time for the following game and Motors may have got away with it had 'Muthu' been held on 0 rather than scoring 171!

The team will begin life in Division 3 on minus 90 points, while captain Mansoor Abbasi has been banned for four games.

Tiddington raised the issue after Sehgal played as himself in the return match.

"Morris Motors held their hands up and said they had played the player under another name before his registration," said Cherwell League secretary Peter Tomlin.

"They have not appealed against the punishment."

Challow & Childrey are now safe as they cannot be caught by bottom club Kingston Bagpuize.

ASTON Rowant are facing relegation with two matches remaining in Division 2 West of the Sommers Home Coun- ties Premier League.

The latest table, published yesterday after late results were finally reported, has Rowant level on points with eighth-placed Beaconsfield.

Three teams will go down from Division 2 West into either the Cherwell or Thames Valley League because both relegated sides from Division 1 will be from the western region.

This means Rowant must finish seventh or better to survive.

The Cherwell League champions, expected to be Buckingham Town, will be promoted to Division 2 West.
