Star batsman Hyron Shallow is too good to play for Tetsworth - according to his skipper.

Noel Humphreys believes Shallow should be given the opportunity to play at a higher level, after his heroic performance in Monday's Airey Cup final.

Shallow hammered what is believed to be the competition's highest individual score as he steered his team to victory over Oxford Caribbean.

The Windward Islands star smashed 26 fours and five sixes in his 196 not out, and Humphreys says it's time a bigger club took a look at him.

He said: "Hyron is a class act. We're looking for him to move to a new, bigger club.

"He's obviously a different level to anyone else, and he's too good for us!"

However, Shallow, who despite his talent has a certain amount of modesty, said: "I enjoy playing at Tetsworth. I don't think I'd want to play for anyone else.

"I didn't know how close I was to 200 - but I've scored double centuries in club cricket back home."

Unsurprisingly, Shallow was awarded the Ron Maudsley Trophy as man-of-the-match.

He said: "I had no idea about the history of the competition, and it was great to be given the award."
