Oxford City were celebrating as their girls won the Oxfordshire Junior League title, at the final meeting of the season at Abingdon's Tilsley Park.

The team finished the day in second place - 17 points behind Radley - but still well clear in the title race.

There was success also for the boys' team, who finished their league season in second place behind Bicester.

They achieved this by edging out Bicester by eight points in the final meeting.

Although City's under 9 girls managed six personal best performances, this was not enough to beat a strong Bicester team.

The under 11 girls finished one point behind Radley, having claimed first places in both the A and B strings in the 600m and 80m.

Performance of the day came from their 4x100m relay team of Camille Clarke, Amy Busby, Ellanor Jones and Lucy Moore, who clocked 1min 01.1secs to set a new club and league record.

The under 13 girls settled for third place on the day, while the under 15 girls struggled to fill all the events with many of their athletes involved in county action.

However, it was the under 17 girls who wrapped up the overall trophy, as they won their age group by a comfortable margin.

Pride of place went to Emily Patrick, who clocked 5.52.8 to win the 1500m, while Kirsty Warland recorded a fine victory in the 80m hurdles.

There were also personal bests for Hannah Webster in the 300m (46.8secs) and discus (13.40m), and for Patrick in the shot (6m).

In the same age group, Witney Roadrunner Claire Butler was in top form as she completed a sprint treble.

Butler came first in the 100m, 200m and 300m, clocking 13.0, 26.5 and 43.2 respectively.

She then joined Sacha Garay, Katherine Smith and Alice Parsons in the 4x100m relay to cap a fine day with another victory.

In the boys' competition, City won both the under 13 and under 15 age groups.

At under 13 level, William Handscombe clocked 5.23.8 to win the 1500m, while Owen Huxley crossed the line in 2.54.0 to take the 800m.

Nathan Rockett landed a hat-trick of victories for the under 15s.

He posted a sprint double, winning the 100m and 200m in 12.6 and 25.8 respectively, and then leapt 4.82m to win the long jump.
