FLEET maintained their 100 per cent record with a second-half Nathan Smart strike - and made sure Abingdon keeper Simon Tricker was the busiest man on the pitch in the Division 1 South & West clash.

Phillip John was the first to test him in the fourth minute as he drove a ball in low making the keeper dive full length to push the chance away.

Abingdon were being closed down, hassled and losing possession as Town threatened to over run them.

However, United kept plugging away and weathered the pressure until a 34th minute free kick, when James Field drove the ball straight at the wall which broke and was deflected in.

After the break it was a different Abingdon that came out is search of a goal.

They came close when Jack Smillie cracked a shot a couple of feet wide with a fine volley.

The equaliser came on the hour from a corner that Richard Peirson kept alive and set up Kevin Lewis to hit the post. Billy Beechers reacted instantly and fired home from close range.

Fleet scored the winner 15 minutes later when Nathan Smart ended a strong run with a cracking shot that deflected in off the diving body of Tricker.

Abingdon could find no way back after that as the visitors left with all three points.
