Henley Hawks climax their pre-season preparations with a tough game against National 1 side Exeters Chiefs at the Devon club's impressive new ground, Sandy Lane tomorrow (3).

Hawks welcome back their national academy player, James Honeyben, making his first appearance at scrum-half since the turn of the year after two long-term injuries.

He had a run-out last weekend in the Wasps' sevens side at Twickenham, scoring a try.

Samoan Felise Ah Ling adds pace on the right wing, and with a reasonable supply of ball from the half-back combination of Honeyben and new fly half Mark Meenan, he could cause the Chiefs some problems.

This game will see Nathan Lambden vying with Jim Farndon, last year's first choice, for the full-back position.

Hooker Dinos Acapoulus has not recovered from a calf strain, while rugby league convert centre James Chapman is still troubled by a back problem.

Although most of last season's pack are available, coach Jon Lambden has decided to strengthen the depth of the front row.

Charlie Beech (ex-Northampton) will have some game time at loose head as will Cornishman Richard Hoskins at tighthead.

Steve Green, who missed out last weekend against Glamorgan Wanderers with a knee problem, is expected to provide cover for lock and flanker positions, with Matt Hulland as the No 8 replacement.

The Chiefs had an impressive season, finishing in the top six in National 1 for the ninth successive year.

They are a full-time outfit under new coach Peter Drewett who took charge of the England Under 21 side that played at Henley in the World Championship for that age group in 2003.
