The Oxfordshire Development XI regained the Tom Orford Trophy with a comprehensive 216-run victory over Hertfordshire at Tiddington yesterday.

Oxford left-arm spinner Francios Vainker was the hero, taking 5-30 from 18 overs as Herts fell to 164 all out in reply to Oxon's daunting target of 380.

The home county took their overnight 344-5 to 380-7 to grab the extra batting point, Shahbaz Ali adding two big sixes to finish with 83 before being stumped.

Herts looked in little trouble as their openers put on 50 without loss.

However, then Vainker got to work, sending back three of the top four, including two in two balls with the aid of two sharp slip catches from John Williams.

The writing was on the wall for the visitors and although they staged a mini revival, Vainker chipped in with two more wickets as Oxon secured victory and the trophy by ten points from holders Bucks.
