HEADINGTON A retained their title in the Bridle Insurance Oxford and District League with another dominant display.

The reigning champions romped to a 5-1 win at Witney Mills to secure ninth win in ten matches and clinch the Division 1 crown with two games to spare.

The result was never in doubt once Ian Snowden’s rink had roared into a 28-shot lead at the halfway point, which included a clean-sweep on the eighth end.

Only Chris Weller’s rink were able to stop the rot to give Mills a much-needed point in their battle against relegation.

They are now just ahead of City and County, who continued their fightback with a 4½-½ win at Watlington.

Three rinks were soon in the bag for City and County.

However, the fourth featured an excellent comeback by Omar Sharif’s men, who found themselves seven down with three ends to play and won the last three ends to tie.

Champions Carterton continue to show that they are in a different class to the rest of Division 2.

This week's victims were promotion hopefuls Witney Town, who went down 5-1.

The highlight of the match was, for the second time this season, an eight-shot end going to a losing rink.

Paul Demczak’s men scored the clean sweep, only to lose most of the remaining ends to Paul Sharman’s rink.

Bicester clinched the Division 4 title with a 4-2 success at Bloxham

Defeat removes any realistic chance of promotion for the hosts, but they have an important role to play as their final match is against West Oxford, who remain in the hunt, despite having only taken half-a-point away at Chadlington.

The other two clubs that could still be promoted, Chadlington and South Oxford, play each other.
