OXFORDSHIRE posted their first outright win in the ECB Under 17 Championship for more than 15 years as they beat Herefordshire by an innings and 118 runs at Eastnor.

The hosts had no answer to captain George Tait’s off-spin as he returned 7-58 in their total of 243.

Despite Archie Davis’s quickfire 64, Oxon slipped to 126-5.

But a superb 151 not out from Sammy Lion-Cachet, supported by Prav Chahal (51) and Dan Hall’s 59 from 34 balls, took them to 407-8 dec.

This gave Oxfordshire 42 overs to try to force an outright win.

And they ripped through their hosts, skittling them for just 46 with Chahal taking three wickets and two apiece for Cam King, Ollie Dunn and Tait, who finished with match figures of 9-65.

Oxon followed up this success with a nine-wicket win over the same opponents in their ECB Under 17 Cup encounter at Brockhampton.

Charlie Oakey was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3-30 as the hosts were shot out for 116.

Luke Maslen struck an unbeaten 54 and Tait 46 not out as Oxon cruised in.

Meanwhile, Oxfordshire Girls Under 13s suffered a narrow defeat against Warwickshire at Kenilworth.

Three wickets each for Samadhi Samarakoon, Mahrosh Ali Khan and Carys Rowland restricted the hosts to 122-7.

Despite opener Abi Norgrove’s 38, Oxon were bowled out for 95.

  • OXFORDSHIRE Over 50s B team rattled up 303-4, but still lost their Southern Counties Senior Championship clash to Bedfordshire at Aston Rowant.

Ian Harris (106) and Jon Atkins (90) put on 184 for Oxon's first wicket, while Andrew Hodder-Williams (49) lifted them to over 300 in 45 overs.

But the visitors replied with 304-6 with 11 balls to spare thanks to a spectacular unbeaten 96 from 56 balls by Naseer Ahmed.
