Supporters are likely to question Oxford United's management at a Fans' Forum tonight about the massive changes to the times they watch their team.

Instead of regular Saturday afternoon football, fans of clubs in this year's Blue Square Premier are having to put up with constant fixture changes, and games taking place on Sunday afternoons and nights, Thursday nights and other unaccustomed times to meet the demands of television.

The fixture changes are an own goal, say Oxford United supporters' group OxVox.

They claim the news that nine of the club's opening 18 league fixtures were subject to a change in date or kick-off time, or both, has been greeted with dismay.

"Once again, the football authorities have sold out to television, except on this occasion the monetary value of the deal has not been disclosed," say OxVox.

"Supporters of clubs in the Blue Square Premier must be prepared to watch their team play on any day of the week and at any kick-off time between 12 noon and 8pm.

"Sadly, some cannot be that flexible and will not be able to attend as many matches as in previous years."

OxVox secretary Chris Davis added: "Supporters are encouraged to buy their season tickets early and often clubs offer a discount to facilitate the purchase.

"At the time they would have expected matches to commence at 3pm on a Saturday or at 7.45pm on a particular weekday. These late changes could now prove costly to ticket holders who may find that they cannot attend on the new date."

OxVox chair Trevor Lambert added: "TV coverage and the subsequent fixture changes have still to be decided for two-thirds of the season, so we may have only seen the tip of the iceberg so far."

Fans have the chance to question United manager Jim Smith and chairman Nick Merry about all aspects of the club at the Fans' Forum, which takes place at the Kassam Stadium (7pm).
