Danny Betson, just one of the many riders hitting the heights for Oxford Cheetahs at the moment, came close to beating Andy Smith's Conference League track record.
His time of 60.7 seconds against Cleveland was faster than some of the Elite League matches here earlier in the season, and he was only half a second from claiming the £250 offered by former Oxford rider Spencer Timmo.
Timmo has pledged the money to the first rider to beat his best time of 60.2 seconds.
Cheetahs are back in Conference action at Rye House on Saturday.
And after Bank Holiday Monday's Knockout Cup tie against Plymouth, they host Boston at the Stadium next Friday.
