Oxford Cheetahs' promoter Allen Trump has urged the team give Plymouth Devils a 'hiding' in the first leg of the Knockout Cup quarter-final replay at Oxford Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday.

Last time the sides met, Oxford secured a replay on aggregate. Plymouth then launched an appeal, but that was rejected by the sports governing body.

"There's a bit of needle between us and Plymouth," Trump admitted.

"Last time around, after the two cup matches ended in a draw on aggregate, they tried to settle things off track on a technicality, and that's not how it should be done.

"So we're going to show them how things should be settled, on the track. We want to beat them not only at home, but in the return leg in Devon as well.

"The first leg at Oxford is going to be a hard-fought match, because Plymouth's top-two, Seemond Stephens and Tom Brown, both ride our track so well. Tom really wants to be in the line-up for the New Era Trophy individual meeting when we re-stage it, because he believes he can win it.

"With a big crowd behind our boys, I believe we can give the Devils a well-deserved hiding and build a good lead to take back to their place on September 7."

Trump added: "It would be great to get a thousand people in the stadium for this meeting.

"It would help to convince me that we're really getting somewhere."

"We've got a great team together, that is riding high in the league, and it would be tremendous if the people of Oxford came out and really supported us in force for the match against the Devils."

Children under 12, accompanied by an adult, can get into the Plymouth meeting free, with the cost of adult admission £9.

Allen Trump wants feedback from fans and potential sponsors about the possibility of Cheetahs going into the Premier League next season.
