OXFORD City Stars have further bolstered their squad with the re-signing of brothers Jake and Josh Florey.

The siblings were key members of last season’s NIHL2 league and cup double, and have put pen to paper to commit to their home club for the 2018/19 campaign.

It follows the re-signings of Milan Ronai, Josh Oliver, Dominic Hopkins and Alex Staples.

Jake Florey was voted most improved defenceman at the club’s end of season awards and is looking forward to the new season.

He said: “I’m delighted to be signing for Stars again this season.

“We have such a tight group of players and the passion from the fans is a great feeling.”

Josh Florey (right), who scooped the most improved forward accolade, added: “It’s an honour to be able to sign for my home town club again and with the changes that have happened over the summer I think it’s going to be a really exciting season.

“I’m looking forward to putting on the yellow shirt again and playing in front of our fans.”

Head coach Kenny Redmond is delighted to secure their services for another year.

He said: “The Florey brothers are a key part of the squad and are both getting stronger as players year on year.

“Jake is a solid defenceman and always puts the team first defensively and he has a wicked shot on him and scored some crucial goals for us last season.

“Josh adapted well last season from a defensive role to playing up front.

“He scored in a lot of key games and is a strong skater with a powerful shot.

“We may move Josh back into a defensive role this season, but it is good to have options.”
