OXFORDSHIRE Academy batsman Ben Charlesworth has been called up to the England Under 19 Young Lions test squad to play two Tests against South Africa.
Charlesworth, who is also a member of the Gloucestershire Academy, starred with a superb 142 when playing for the Young Lions’ invitational team against the touring South Africans.
His impressive innings led to him being called up to the Test squad, where he joins fellow Oxfordshire and St Edward’s School, Oxford, batsman Harrison Ward.
On hearing of his selection, Charlesworth said: “I’m delighted and overwhelmed and can’t wait to get going.”
The two Test matches take place at Scarborough tomorrow, and at the Emirates Riverside from July 16-19.
