RAY Grant’s superb 16-doll haul (5-6-5) could not prevent Woodman falling to a 2-1 defeat at George A in the Greene King Oxford & District League, writes ANDY BEAL.

The hosts took the lead in the all-Section 1 encounter when anchorman Kevin Stuart clanged off the four needed to win it 29-28.

Woodman won the second leg on three sticks after the sides tied 26-26.

George then set an impressive 32, with the visitors falling three short in reply.

Neil Pratley (5-4-5) and Charlie Buckingham (4-5-5) clanged off 14 dolls for Woodman, while Luke Purcell top-scored for George with 13 (4-5-4).

Section 1 side Six Bells E Kidlington shocked Premier holders Gladiators A 3-0 at home.

The hosts, for whom Lee Hazell hit 15 (5-5-5), triumphed in leg scores of 24-22, 29-22, 31-30.

Garsington Sports A beat Three Pigeons 2-1 away.

The visitors set 34 in the first leg, with the hosts replying with 27.

Pigeons levelled when convincingly winning the second 33-17, before Garsington won the decider 30-25.

Trevor Greenaway hit 14 (6-5-3) for the victors, with Eddie Edwards (5-5-4) matching that for the hosts.

Black Prince opened up a six-point gap at the top of the Premier Section when earning a 3-0 win at Chequers C.

Rob Bradford (6-4-4), Darren Grant (4-6-3), and Phil Austin (4-5-4) starred as Prince secured a 33-27, 26-20, 27-17 victory.

Swan’s B team came from behind to beat their A side 2-1.

Despite losing the first 29-24, they clinched the next two legs 29-27, 22-19, with John Greenaway (5-5-3) top-scoring with 13 and Jon Townsend (4-5-4) likewise for the A team.

In Section 2, Gladiators B earned a 2-1 win at Six Bells D.

Glad’s took the first leg 22-18 and fell one short of claiming the second as the hosts clinched it 21-20.

Chris Webb (5-5-5), who clanged off 15, then hit five to earn the visitors a 24-22 victory. Pete Rampton (5-5-5) also hit 15 for the hosts.

Bullnose Morris A displayed their title credentials with a 2-1 win over Red Lion A Yarnton, triumphing in leg scores of 17-23, 28-26, 24-20.

Donnington A move to second after a comfortable 3-0 win against Florence Park A, seeing off their visitors 19-14, 20-17, 22-13.

Pip Goulding’s 13-doll haul (2-5-6) was in vain as Tiddington Cricket Club lost 2-1 to Black Horse B.

The visitors earned a 17-14, 20-19, 22-26 victory.

Section 3 leaders Ampleforth Arms A beat Queens Head A 2-1.

They took the first two legs 20-16, 25-19, but were denied a clean sweep on three sticks after the sides finished level on 23.

Donnington Club C came from behind to beat Rose Hill Club 2-1 in leg scores of 12-14, 21-16, 16-14.

Red Lion Marston A crashed to a 3-0 defeat at Masons Arms A, losing the first on three sticks after it had finished 15-15, before being defeated 22-16, 23-17.

Cricketers Littleworth upset Section 4 contenders Six Bells A Kidlington 2-1.

Bells took the opener 17-15, but Littleworth hit back to win 17-16, 15-14.

Bullnose Morris B clanged off more dolls than visitors Vikings Sports B, but suffered a 2-1 defeat.

Vikings went 2-0 up (13-12, 21-20), before Sam Macer’s first six saw Bullnose take the third 22-18.

In Section 5, Swan C earned a 3-0 win over Florence Park Club B.

After clinching the first 15-12, they won the second on three sticks after it had been tied 15-15, before taking the third 16-14.

Prince of Wales rule the roost in Section 6 after beating Marston British Legion A 2-1 in leg scores of 13-9, 14-17, 18-17.

Glyn Millard starred as Vikings Sports D beat Littlemore British Legion B.

With the match poised at 1-1, he hit a six to clinch the decider 18-17.

The two unbeaten sides faced off in Section 7, with Tandem claiming a 2-1 win over Chequers B.

After the first leg was tied 15-15, Tandem took the lead on three sticks.

Chequers hit back to win the second 22-10, but Tandem took the decider 13-11.
