OXFORD Harlequins RFC and Oxford City Athletic Club are the major beneficiaries from the latest special grants awarded by the Oxford Sports Council.
At their annual meeting in the Oxford University RFC pavilion, the Council announced they are giving grants to six city sports clubs totalling just under £30,000.
Quins and Oxford City were given £10,000 each towards a premises refit at their Horspath Road headquarters.
A grant of £4,000 was given to Oxford Blues Skater Hockey Club to provide equipment for their junior outreach programme.
It was a good night also for cricket.
Wytham CC were awarded £2,500 towards a replacement artificial wicket, East Oxford received £1,500 for development projects, while Oxfordshire CB’s city engagement programme secured £1,500 to run a summer programme at Oxford Spires Academy.
Earlier this year, South Oxford Bowls Club were awarded £10,000 for replacement and upgrading of equipment and essential grounds work.
The Council offer the opportunity for sports clubs and individuals to apply for small grants every month.
