Oxfordshire teenager Marina Lawson-Smith was a member of Great Britain's three-day event team which struck gold at the European Junior Championships in Switzerland.

Riding Fancy That II, the 16-year-old, from Glympton, near Woodstock, finished seventh individually at Avenches.

And with teammates Laura Collett, aboard Rayef, retaining her title and Emily Llewellyn, on Pardon Me II, taking bronze, the British trio claimed team gold with Sweden winning silver and France bronze.

Lawson-Smith was well placed in both dressage and cross-country.

When it came to the showjumping on the final day, she needed a clear round to clinch gold for Great Britain.

Despite being the youngest member of the team, she conquered her nerves and completed the course without picking up a single fault to ensure her team came out on top.
