Oxfordshire produced a late flourish to bounce back to winning ways in the Home Counties League with a 123-114 win over Middlesex at Oxford City & County.

Oxon, who had lost their three previous matches, finished strongly over the last six ends to claim victory.

Trailing 89-77 after 15 ends, the hosts stepped up a gear to take victory on four of the six rinks and with one of the other two tied, they emerged comfortable winners.

Ryan Buckett's rink of Andy McIntyre, Kevin Alder and Gordon Roper spearheaded Oxon's victory charge, turning an 18-9 deficit into a 25-20 victory.

Alan Ley's four of Bernie May, Steve Gilkes and George Moon were all-square at 15-15 with six ends to go, before roaring home 24-17.

Robin Hewson's side of Dean May, Gary May and Ian Henwood ran out 22-17 victors.

And Colin Whitehead's quartet of Darren St Joh, Steve Gibson and Sammy Timms battled to a 20-18 win.

Mark Sykes's side of Jon Jordan, Will Campion and Mike Andrew fought back for an 18-18 draw.

Oxon's only reverse came when Paul Comley's rink of Paul Boffin, Ali Simpson and Bob Gilkes went down 24-14.

Oxon, who have now won two of their five games, complete their programme against Bucks on Saturday, September 8.
