EDDIE Pepperell endured a testing opening round in the season-ending Dubai World Tour Championship.
The Abingdon golfer shot a three-over-par 75 in the Middle East to sit in a share of 54th place. Just two players are below him in the standings.
It started so well for Pepperell with a birdie at the second hole.
But a double bogey five at the par-three sixth saw him slip down the leaderboard.
Further bogeys followed at the 12th and 16th to leave him with plenty of work to do in order to secure a good finish.
