CHARLBURY’S march towards the OCA League Division 1 title continued as they eased to a 131-run victory at Oxenford on Saturday.
Fine knocks by Graham Atkins (74) and Stuart Atkins (67) saw Charlbury to 222-9 in a match reduced to 42 overs per side.
But the stand-out performance came from Ian Johnston, who took a hat-trick in figures of 5-15 as Oxenford crashed to 91 all out.
Wolvercote saw off hosts Great Horwood by 28 runs.
James van Santen top-scored with 48 in Wolvercote’s 170-8, Adam Armitage taking 5-35.
Horwood were dismissed for 142, despite 50 from Stuart Parker and 42 from Simon Ridgway.
Toby Shelley was the pick of the Wolvercote attack with 4-29.
East & West Hendred’s faltering title push suffered a terminal blow as they lost by 36 runs at Stonesfield.
Shoaib Ahmed struck 72 to help Stonesfield to 205-6.
Ian Clewley hit 57 for Hendred, but they managed only 169-9 to suffer a defeat which ends their hopes.
Witney Swifts remain top of Division 2 as they brushed aside Eynsham by six wickets.
The visitors were shot out for 75, Andy Purdie taking 5-11.
Kieran Foggett (37no) then led Swifts to 78-4.
Wootton & Boars Hill kept up the pressure on the leaders, running out 69-run victors at Marsh Gibbon.
Wootton managed only 130 all out as Sat Vadivale returned 4-27.
But Billy Webb claimed 5-10 to run through the Marsh Gibbon card for 61 and secure victory.
Chipping Norton beat visitors Broughton & North Newington by seven wickets on the target score (TS) method.
Broughton racked up 203-9 in a match reduced to 42 overs per side.
Andy Parsons top-scored with 77, while Max Green took 4-24.
Chippy’s target was adjusted to 193 off 39 overs, and, led by Richard Ferley (76), they eased to 195-3.
Wantage had a day to forget as they were shot out for 47 to crash to a nine-wicket defeat at Clifton Hampden.
Laurence Harvey was chief-destroyer with 5-10, before Andrew Pynegar hit 33 not out to steer Clifton to 48-1.
Chadlington posted a 32-run win at Westcott.
They set 234-8 as Mark Lambert hit 49 and Matthew North 36.
Alimar Khan struck 87 in Westcott’s reply, but 4-17 from Richard Ingram and 3-20 from Freddie Magee helped to dismiss the hosts for 202.
Division 3 leaders Middleton Cheney marched on with a 60-run win at home to Hanborough.
Richard Brown took 4-51 and Jake Halsey 3-30 as Middleton were bowled out for 162.
But Steve Wilkes took 4-22 as visitors Hanborough were shot out for 102.
Risinghurst edged past hosts Kidlington by 17 runs.
Rakesh Nambiar hit 58 in as the visitors posted 182 all out.
He then took 3-38 and Martin Kalyan 3-15 as Kidlington were dismissed for 165.
Stanton Harcourt edged a low-scoring clash at Tetsworth by four runs.
Andy Walker took 5-21 to send Tetsworth tumbling to 73 all out as they replied in vain to Stanton’s 77 in which Tim Senior hit 45.
In Division 4, Brill’s six-wicket victory at home to West Ilsley keeps them well on course for the title.
Tom Broughton (3-20) and Andy Wynd (3-42) combined to dismiss the visitors for 145, before Dale Sweetman struck 90 to steer Brill to 146-4.
Bampton kept themselves in the hunt with a four-wicket win at Sunningwell.
Simon Launder returned 6-23 in Sunningwell’s 115 all out, before Bampton reached 119-6, thanks largely to Edward Landray’s 55.
Dorchester cruised to a ten-wicket victory at home to Marcham after chasing down 170 without losing a wicket.
Tom Beresford top-scored with 80 for Marcham, Harry Platt taking 4-37.
Richard Sharman (89no) and Adrian Redhead (69no) as Dorchester cruised in at 172-0.
Deddington thumped Swinbrook by ten wickets after dismissing them for 58.
DIVISION 5 leaders Hook Norton suffered only their second defeat of the season, as Steventon won by four runs on the target score method.
Adam Bennett took 5-40 as visitors Steventon set 194, before heavy rain reduced Hooky’s reply to just 28 overs.
The adjusted target was 140, but Hooky finished short on 136-8 as Phil Armstrong claimed 4-23.
Radley eased to a seven-wicket win at home to Hailey & West Witney.
Hailey were bowled out for 151, Sean King hitting 48 and Richard Cook taking 4-16.
Ashley Pike struck 76 not out for Radley, leading them home at 154-3.
Wolvercote 2nd were too strong for visitors Ducklington as they cruised to a nine-wicket win.
Brian George (3-26) and Sam Payne (3-27) combined to dismiss Ducklington for 76, before Ben Madden hit 39 not out to lead Wolvercote to 77-1.
In Division 6, title-chasing Charlbury 2nd edged past hosts Oxenford 2nd by nine runs.
Charlbury were thankful to Charlie Sinton (55no) as they posted 83.
Ellie Norton (4-15) and Zak Jarvis (3-9) then combined to run through the Oxenford card for 74.
Division 7 leaders Middleton Cheney 2nd defeated Eynsham 2nd by 18 runs to stay clear at the top.
Ashley Cox top-scored with 46 in Middleton’s 165, before Barry White took 4-18 in Eynsham’s 147 all out, Roland Margerison hitting 72.
Adam Lambert took 5-28 for Stonesfield 2nd to help his side to a five-wicket win at Kilkenny 2nd.
Kilkenny were dismissed for 95, and then Stonesfield reached 96-5 to secure victory.
Risinghurst 2nd went top of Division 8 North with a crushing 164-run victory at home to Westcott 2nd.
Raj Kumar fell for 99 in Risinghurst’s 195-6.
Westcott crashed to 31 all out, Ishaq Khademi taking 3-9.
Charlbury 3rd saw off visitors Deddington 2nd by 53 runs.
Alasdair Harley (45) helped Charlbury to 173-6, who then restricted Deddington to 120-6.
Wolvercote 3rd defeated previous leaders Hook Norton 2nd by 28 runs.
There were two stand-out performances as David Gillham hit 59 in Wolvercote’s 163-8, before Dave Quinn took 6-11 to send Hooky tumbling to 135 all out.
In Division 8 South, Letcombe eased to a five-wicket win at Marcham 2nd.Daniel Jacob took 5-25 in Marcham’s 146 all out, Neil Patel top-scoring with 52.Steve Lewis struck 62 not out as Letcombe eased to 149-5.a haul of 5-7 from Stephen Boag helped Steventon 2nd to an eight-wicket win at home to Sunningwell 2nd.
Sunningwell were shot out for 66, Chris Bennett also taking 3-10.
Dave Imrie (32) then led Steventon to 67-2.
Watlington 2nd skittled visitors Uffington 2nd for 32 to secure an eight-wicket victory.
Rama Garimella took 5-12 and Patrick Sunderland 3-0.
