BICESTER’S Reece Chamdal narrowly missed out on a medal at the Cadet National Cup in Preston.
The 14-year-old was among ten invited players to the round-robin tournament by virtue of his national ranking.
Seeded sixth, Chamdal won five of his nine matches to finish fourth.
Along the way, he beat Josh Weatherby and Louis Price, who were seeded third and fourth respectively, 4-1.
But he was beaten 4-2 in his final match by tenth seed Jonny Heslop.
The encounter turned out to be a shoot-out for the bronze medal.
Chamdal said: “I played well and finished above where I was seeded.
“I had some good wins, but I didn’t quite get the result I was looking for in the end.”
