Records tumbled as Andy Small racked up an imposing 205 not out in Holton's 207-run victory over Wytham in Sunday's 40-over-a-side friendly.

Small's double century was both his own personal best and a club milestone, beating the 158 made by Guy Peddy against West Isley in 1990.

Small and John Simpson's unbroken opening partnership of 269 was Holton's highest for any wicket as well as being the club's biggest total.

This was the first time Holton had completed an innings without losing a wicket and with Wytham being bowled out for just 62, it was also their highest margin of victory.

Small, 26, said: "It was my highest innings by miles, although I have had a 129 and 115 for Holton.

"I got to 130 and fortunately this spinner came on and I was able to get a few sixes.

"I normally bat No 4 for Holton, but this week they said do you want to open.

"I don't think I would do it again. It was quite tiring."

Small plays hockey for City of Oxford in the winter and captains another local cricket team, Cairns Fudge, in midweek and Saturday matches.

This team, so called because Kiwi all-rounder Chris Cairns retired to start a fudge business on the day they first played, were started by former Oxford Brookes students.

Small said: "We are in regular contact with Chris and he thinks we are mad.

"We are hoping he will play for us one day."
