EDDIE Pepperell plunged down the field with a three-over-par 75 at Carnoustie in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
The Abingdon golfer, who was tied for ninth after a first-round 68 at St Andrews, moved to five under par for the tournament during his second round.
But he dropped three shots in two holes on his back nine and another at the last to finish on a one-under- par total of 143.
The big-money event is played over three courses and Pepperell, who needs a big payday to guarantee keeping his European Tour card for 2017, will play his third round at Kingsbarns tomorrow.
