The running out of Aston Rowant's South Africa batsman Dominic Telo led to a spectacular collapse and ultimately to a four-wicket defeat by hosts Basingstoke & North Hants in Sommers Home Counties Premier League Division 2 West.

Having been put in to bat on a damp pitch, Rowant were going well at 134-3, Telo having completed his second successive half-century Put into bat on a damp wicket Rowant struggled to get any rhythm and were forced to leave the pitch twice due to rain. However, when Watling joined Dominic Telo at the crease shortly after lunch Rowant started to build towards a decent total. Watling made a patient 25 and Telo went on to score his second successive 50.

It all went wrong, however, in a moment of madness when Chris Eaton ran Telo out going for a risky single when Rowant were handily placed.

From there on, Rowant collapsed in alarming fashion to 162 all out.

Rowant went on the attack when they took the field and got their noses in front when they reduced Basingstoke to 83-5.

Tim Foster and Tim Morgan strangled the Basingstoke middle order, with the latter spinning the ball prodigiously and picking up three wickets.

Rowant just needed to expose the Basingstoke lower order, but Dean Nurse road his luck a little in an aggressive 42 backed up by a patient 31 from Jon Govett, as Basingstoke scrambled home.
