James Edwards scored the second century of his county career for Oxfordshire as they cruised to a resounding 75-run victory over ECB Cup holders Wales at Banbury.

It was one of Oxon's best displays in recent years as they dominated with bat and ball against a side who are also reigning national champions.

Batting first, Oxon showed their intent from the start, with Edwards and Stafford Sansome putting on 80 for the first wicket.

Nathaniel Watkins joined Edwards when Sansome was bowled by spinner Roberts and quickly got into his stride with both players scoring runs at will.

The second-wicket partnership of 84 in only 15 overs ended with Watkins being caught and bowled, but Oxon did not falter.

Skipper Taylor chipped in with a quickfire 19, including an enormous six over square leg, and with Edwards finally falling in the 46th over, Felix Hughes-Morgan hit some lusty blows as Oxon closed on 238-9.

The visitors were quickly in trouble in their reply, losing three wickets for ten runs.

Their innings never gained momentum, with wickets tumbling regularly.

Spin twins Taylor and Joe Harris picked up two wickets apiece in the middle order, then Joe Todd mopped up the tail with two wickets as Wales stuttered to 163 all out - their first defeat in years.
