A selection race for the England team is being held at Donnington Bridge in Oxford tomorrow (from 11am).
The best of English kayakists will compete for berths in the national team with the aim of earning places in the national squad competing in Europe later this summer. Some 300 competitors are expected.
Said Oxford Falcons President Peter Travis: "It is among the most important kayak races in the UK.
"We have had to wait ten years from the last time it visited Oxford.
"There will be athletes with their eyes on the Olympics competing in this race."
Spectators will be able to watch the top-flight kayak and canoe racing from the Oxford towpath.
Local young people are also taking part in the day's mass of events, including a large team from Banbury.
