OXFORD Saints clinched the Division 2 title in anticlimactic fashion when opponents Torbay Trojans forfeited their clash.
The Devon side were due to face the Southern Conference West leaders at Tilsley Park, but did not have enough players to form a squad.
Saints had thrashed Torbay 58-7 when the sides met in the reverse fixture in May.
While they missed out on the chance to repeat the feat, it was still a cause for celebration.
With a perfect record of eight wins from eight matches, Saints cannot be overtaken at the top.
It means they take the Conference title won last season by Bristol Apache, although the hard work is far from over.
With two games of the regular season still to play, Saints are not yet guaranteed a home tie in the play-off quarter-finals on August 21.
Their next match is at home to Jurassic Coast Raptors on July 31.
