Sommers Home Counties Premier League

LEADING batsman Craig Haupt has been ruled out of Banbury's home game with Reading in Division 1 tomorrow due to a knee injury.

Haupt, who scored 125 in Sunday's Cockspur Cup victory over Moseley, has been told he needs to rest otherwise he risks aggravating the problem.

Banbury captain Benji Hector said: "Every game his knee has been swelling up to almost twice the size.

"Craig has really been struggling to get around the field after a long knock.

"He has been up to the hospital two or three times and they have advised him to give it a break.

"We'll assess the situation on a week-by-week basis."

Opener Chris Smith is also unavailable. Teenager Will Cooper and the experienced Andrew Sabin come in.

Oxford make three changes for the visit of promoted Farnham Royal.

Veteran spinner Rupert Evans has a hamstring injury, while Adam Cook and Graham Charlesworth are unavailable.

Ian Crosby, Ian Evans and Francois Vainker all come in as Oxford bid to make the most of some comparatively easier matches.

Skipper Jason Harrison said: "They are all first-team players. We are lucky that we have a strong squad in terms of number and ability.

"We have had a tough month fixtures-wise and I think we have dealt with it very well.

"We have now got to make sure we get plenty of points in the coming games."
