TENNIS fans from all over Oxfordshire flocked to get a view of the Davis Cup yesterday.
The impressive trophy, won for the first time in 79 years when Great Britain defeated Belgium last November, was on display at Abingdon’s White Horse Leisure & Tennis Centre.
Hundreds made the most of the opportunity to get their picture taken with the cup, while also making the most of a free day of tennis activities.
OXFORDSHIRE rising star Alexis Canter’s hopes of making the main draw of the singles at the junior French Open are over after a straight sets defeat in qualifying yesterday.
The 17-year-old, from Long Wittenham, lost 6-3, 6-4 to French wildcard Hugo Gaston in the first round.
