CHARLBURY Town Under 12s were crowned champions at the national Precision Pass tournament, held at the King Power Stadium, home of newly-crowned Premier League champions Leicester City.
A 2-0 victory in the final over Higham Town Colts, from Northamptonshire, was enough to secure Charlbury the title.
Few would have imagined it as Town scraped out of their group with one victory and two defeats.
They needed penalties to overcome Cleethorpes-based Discoveries Allstars in the round of 16 following a 0-0 draw, triumphing 2-1 in the shoot-out.
Freddie Leydon’s last-minute goal gave them a 1-0 win over Colron Colts, from Sutton Coldfield, in the quarter-final.
A place in the last four was confirmed courtesy of a 3-0 win over Costello Leopards (Hull).
And there were trophy celebrations after the final as Isaac Harrington and Leydon scored in a 2-0 success.
