Oxford Cavaliers produced a stunning performance to rout unbeaten Redditch Ravens 60-18 in the Midlands Division at Marston Ferry Road.

Joe McEneaney and James Batstone grabbed a hat-trick of tries apiece, while Brent Hurley notched an 18-point haul as Cavaliers stormed to victory.

Strong running by forwards Paul Parlett and John Conway laid the platform for Cavaliers to control the game throughout.

With the backs running some great lines, Redditch's defence was at sixes and sevens.

Hurley and Tom Waterfield, who are forming a good partnership, pulled the strings in midfield, with good support from debutants Mark Cliff and Sam Butler.

Cavaliers ran in six tries in the first half to lead 32-4.

Batstone and Hurley bagged a brace apiece, and Stewart Hannah and McCeaney also crossed the Redditch line, while Hurley landed four conversions.

The Ravens, who had won their three previous games, hit back with two quick tries after the break.

But this only served to fire up Cavaliers. Adam White went over for a try and McEneaney scored twice to complete his hat-trick.

With Hurley kicking two conversions, Cavaliers were well clear at 48-12.

Ravens reduced the deficit with a converted try, but Cavaliers finished the game in style with Mark Baker scoring a try before Batstone completed his hat-trick.

Baker converted both tries to take Cavaliers up to 60 points.

Coach Matt Walsh said: "This result was brilliant for the team. It wasn't about the people who scored - everybody in the squad put a lot of effort into the game.

"It is always good to record large victories, but against a team like Redditch, who were unbeaten, it is even better."
