OXFORDSHIRE’S County Blackball team are taking on some of Europe’s best players in East Yorkshire.
Nine of Oxon’s players, who are based at the Q-zone in Cowley, have been given the honour of representing England at the European Championships in Bridlington.
Lorraine Owen, Hasan Ali, Katie Challen, Brian Carroll, Salli Merola, Frankie Merola, Charli Viner, Ben Rowland and Nicki Hoskins will don their country’s colours.
Ali (under 15), Rowland (under 18) and Frankie Merola (under 23) have been competing this week.
The senior men’s and ladies’ competitions begin tomorrow.
Carroll is Oxfordshire’s sole representative in the men’s, while Salli Merola, Challen, Owen and Hoskins will all represent the ladies team.
They will be up against teams from Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Cyprus, Gibraltar, Norway, Shetland, Malta, Ireland, Catalonia and the Netherlands.
