OXFORD United Women have signed defender Jess Frampton from Portsmouth ahead of the start of their forthcoming FA Women’s Super League 2 campaign.
The 24-year-old, who can play either at full-back or wing, has been ever-present for Pompey in FA Women’s Premier League Southern Division this season.
The signing bolsters United’s defence ahead of their trip to Brighton & Hove Albion in the SSE Women’s FA Cup on Sunday, and manager Les Taylor was delighted to have secured his target.
He said: “Jess Frampton is a player who has been on our radar for a number of months.
“She is the right type of player for us, a team player and a great trainer who sets good examples.
“She has pace, good technical ability and is an athlete, and will be a great addition to the team.”
Frampton added: “I couldn’t be happier or more excited to be playing in the the WSL.
“It’s been a long-term goal for me and the fact I get to do it with Oxford United is a privilege.”
Meanwhile, Oxford’s under 15 defender Megan Balloch has been called up for Wales Under 17s.
Balloch has joined up with the 24-strong training camp in Cardiff this week and will feature in a friendly against Reading’s development squad in Merthyr today.
