Banbury coach Simon Purnell says they have a totally different perspective from last year for tomorrow's Midlands 3 East play-off at Lutterworth.

A year ago, Banbury lost out at the same stage, having already twice thrown away the title by missing simple kicks.

This time, Purnell said: "The atmosphere in the squad is very positive and the mindset totally different from last year.

"We had to try and pick ourselves up after the massive disappointment of losing the league to try and win a play-off match that was probably a game too far in terms of injuries.

"This year the possibility of a play off has been on our radar for some time.

"And although we have been hit throughout the campaign with a raft of injuries, that disruption has meant our depth and experience as a squad has increased."

Purnell belives Banbury will need to battle hard against their forward-orientated opponents, if they are to impose their own expansive game.

He added: "We also have a proven kicker in Peter Papenfus, which means we can accumulate points as well as create tries."

Banbury's only injury doubt is No 8 Simon Brand (knee), which would mean Craig Wyatt stepping up from the bench.

Wing James Taylor misses out after an operation on his broken nose, while top try-scorer Adam Walsh and scrum half Justin Parker return.

Henley Hawks will need to beat Launceston at Dry Leas to ensure they finish third in National 2.

Launceston, known as the Cornish All Blacks, ended Henley's hopes of promotion by securing a bonus-point victory against Cambridge last week.

But Hawks will have to pick themselves up after their defeat at champions Esher if they are to hold off the challenge of Redruth.

James Hadfield replaces Tom French at tight-head prop, while flanker Jon Tenconi is promoted from the bench in place of Matt Payne.

Barry Reeves moves to fly half and Mitch Burton shifts to full back, so Jim Farndon drops to the bench.

Chaska Loubser replaces the injured Tom Burns at right wing, while Paul Dunckley starts at inside centre.
