OXFORD City were good value for their 1-1 draw away to second-placed Paulton Rovers, and might well have taken all three points from Saturday's Division 1 South & West encounter.

In the early stages, the home side held the initiative as Ricky Nulbert drove past the far post.

Then City keeper Carl Wilkins made a good stop from Ben Cleverley.

At the other end, Liam Malone fired a well-struck shot straight at the home keeper.

After 18 minutes, Paulton took the lead. Ben Cleverley found brother Danny, whose mis-hit shot wrong-footed Wilkins.

City found it difficult to create chances, but in stoppage time at the end of the half, Alex Stewart was upended in the area by Nick Hudson.

Getting up off the ground, Stewart made no mistake for the equaliser from the spot.

In the second half, the visitors had the better of the play, and were unlucky when Adam Durrant headed against the bar, while a Stewart header went close.

It was a nervous performance by Paulton, who are seeking a promotion play-off spot.

City finished on top against a side, who had not lost at home since December.
