These are exciting times for Clanfield Angling Club, who now have more than 100 pegs on the north bank of Upper Thames.

A total of 94 of these are located between Radcot and Rushey locks. Last year the club acquired access to a further 18 pegs downstream of tadpole bridge.

Catches vary from roach, dace, chub and perch in the summer with nets to 15lb, chub to 6lb in the winter . Last season the Clanfield stretch produced two superb barbel, weighing 8lb 6oz and 9lb 10oz.

In the winter, a stock of 1,000 each of roach chub and dace were added to the water.

Bailey had an all carp net to 5lb on the pole for 59.0.0.

Pete Clarke fished to an island feature with banded pellet and had 20 F1 carp for second on 30.7.0. Stuart Yates claimed third spot with 20.10.0 It was hard going in the first match of Yarnton’ & District’s summer series at College Farm Ahyno.

The winner was Nick Paxton, weighing in with 33.6.0 of carp caught on pellet.

Second came Andy Wiffen, who caught more carp, but they were much smaller, and weighed in 31.6.0. Third was Jason Jones with 16.0.0.
