Feathers have become the newly crowned Division 1 champions of the Oxfordshire Five Disciplines League.

The Banbury-based quartet of Emma Cramond, Mary Le Druilienec, Jonny Bougourd and Stuart Quick had a near perfect round, overcoming Windrush 249-155 to take the title.

Terry Kirk and Nicola Patrick sneaked the second end of the mixed 25-24 over Cramond and Bougourd to deny Feathers a maximum.

Windrush are facing relegation after finishing in seventh place.

Finishing 78 points behind the champions are Colts & Co, who despite being beaten 238-209 by Gosford Hill A, ended up in a creditable second place.

Gosford dominated the opening rubber, the mixed doubles, thanks to Nicola and Paul Casey winning 25-18, 25-11, but the rest of the match wasn't as one-sided.

The ladies' singles, men's singles and men's doubles were all halved but it was the Colts that came out on top in the ladies' doubles thanks to Alex Lewington and Hannah Wilkinson ending up victorious 25-24, 25-22 over Casey and Heather Booth.

Last year's champions Headington A had to be content with third spot.The past winners lost by six points to Oxford Brookes.

Dave Soanes was unbeaten for Headington, winning his singles and men's doubles with Nick Raven.

Raven had earlier halved the mixed with his partner Alison Ross, but it was the strength of the Brookes' ladies that gave them the overall edge.

Chiaki Murayama was dominant in her singles and then she joined Sara Mason for another strong finish in the ladies' doubles.

Radley & Oxford fill the other relegation spot after managing to field only one man against Abingdon A in their 208-180 defeat.Radley put up a great fight however winning the mixed doubles thanks to a 25-22, 25-16 win from Chris Burden and Sarah Torgersen. Burden then went on to win his singles while Torgersen teamed up with Katie Shuttleworth for a ladies' doubles victory.

But Abingdon still won the tie 208-180 and could finally breathe a sigh of relief as they finished up in sixth place, 58 points away from relegation.

As the season in the Oxford & District League draws to a close, many clubs have had to concede matches.

Windrush found themselves with two matches conceded to them in Division 1 of the ladies' league, but were able to win a match by rights, 5-4 at home against Gosford Hill, who were only able to field two pairs.

In Division 1 of the Mixed League, Windrush then won a tight encounter against North Abingdon 5-4 thanks to their unbeaten pairing of Nicola Patrick and Terry Kirk.

Headington A were also on the winning end of a 7-2 scoreline at home to North Abingdon thanks to Alison and Ian Ross.

Other conceded matches were given to Long Crendon in Mixed Division 4, Windrush A and North Abingdon A who are both in men's Division 2 and one to Park B in men's Division 3.
