Oxford City Stars finished bottom of the English National League South Division play-offs after a 7-3 defeat at Streatham Redskins.

Following a scoreless first period, Oxford's Dean Francis netted 31 seconds after the restart.

Stars grabbed a second from Nick Oliver during a powerplay.

Redskins hit back through Perry Richardson and Craig Metcalf and took the lead with a short-handed strike from Joe Johnston.

In the third period, Oxford's Chris Eames was sin-binned for hooking and Streatham capitalised with a goal from Andy Clements.

Johnson completed his hat-trick with Streatham's next two to put them 6-2 up after 51 minutes.

Darren Elliott bagged an Oxford consolation following an assist from Oliver, but Metcalf completed the scoring.

Oxford coach Darryl Morvan said: "Although the result went against us, the team can look back on this season justifiably satisfied with what they have accomplished.

"At no stage all year were we able to ice our strongest possible team, for a variety of reasons, and yet we still finished fourth in the league, compared to eighth last year."
