Didcot Town were unable to recover from a dismal first 20 minutes as they lost 2-1 at champions Bashley in British Gas Business Southern League Division 1 South & West last night.
Shaun Hayle prodded the home side in front in the fifth minute, and shortly afterwards he netted his second after a slip-up from Didcot keeper Chris Webb.
Didcot finally settled and Gary Wickens should have scored on the stroke of half-time when he side-footed a good chance wide.
Oxford United loanee Josh Kennet brought a good save from Bashley keeper David Elm, but it wasn't until the last minute that the visitors grabbed a deserved consolation when JP Mills crashed home from 25 yards.
Paul Powell, in good form of late, didn't come on because of an ankle injury.
