North Leigh stayed on top of the Sport Italia Hellenic League Premier Division table after a commanding display in their 2-0 win at Almondsbury.

They got off to the dream start, taking the lead in the first minute.

Andy McCabe fed a pass to Simon Futcher on the left, who unleashed an unstoppable volley past keeper Andy King from the edge of the box.

The lead was doubled five minutes before half-time. McCabe's shot was blocked by the Almondsbury keeper, only for Kevin Lewis to pick up the loose ball, and take it around King to make it 2-0.

The second half saw North Leigh's midfield in control, their best chance falling to Liam Hope, who shot just wide from 12 yards.

In a game affected by the windy conditions, a strike by Ryan Wiffen just before half-time kept to earn Ardley United a 1-0 win at Fairford Town.

Ardley had to defend resolutely for long spells during the second half, and they were indebted to goalkeeper Paul Searl who made a brilliant save when one-on-one with a Fairford striker near the end.

Milton United were unlucky not to come away with at least a point as they lost 2-1 at title favourites Slimbridge.

Strong winds, and even a lightning strike hindered the game, but there was still plenty of good football.

The first 20 minutes were none too inspiring, but the lightning strike on one of the floodlight pylons seemed to spark up Milton.

Paddy Malone laid on an excellent chance to Vinnie Rusher, but the ball bobbled as he took his shot.

Rusher also hit a post, before Martin Fox broke the deadlock.

A Matt Shelton free-kick from 35 yards was met by the head of Fox to put Milton in front.

Ross Casey equalised for Milton three minutes later, and with the wind behind them in the second half, Milton came under plenty of early pressure.

Matt Casey got Slimbridge's winner 12 minutes from time, a shot from the edge of the six yard box beating Graham Coulthard's dive to nestle in the corner.

A last-minute goal denied Abingdon Town the points against high-flying Hungerford at Culham Road.

Town had taken the lead through a superb 38th minute free-kick from Mark Flanagan, but their resolve was broken in the dying seconds.

Hungerford had all the early play, Shaun Terry carving out the best chance on nine minutes, but shooting across goal.

Terry then saw his free-kick from the edge of the box fly just wide.

Abingdon started slowly, but eventually found their form and when Daryl Hutt was fouled, Flanagan curled in a delightful shot that gave Green in the Hungerford goal no chance.

After the break, Abingdon took control.

Paul Jezzard was denied by Green, while substitute Craig Antcliffe also went close.

As the game entered stoppage time, Hungerford equalised when a loose ball fell to Craig Shand, who netted a simple tap-in. Kidlington paid the penalty for conceding two goals in the first 20 minutes as they went down 2-1 to relegation-threatened Pegasus.

Mark Baker had the first chance, but his vicious shot was turned around a post by Pegasus keeper Brian Kirkham.

Shortly after, Pegasus went in front when John Laurie set up Bobby Aldich, who beat a static Kidlington defence to finish smartly past Floyd Kroll.

Simon Gwynne doubled Pegasus's lead on 18 minutes, running on to a Ben Price pass to fire home.

Kidlington almost pulled on back when Morgan Williams saw a 12-yard effort well saved by Kirkham.

In the second half, Kidlington stepped up the pressure, they were finally rewarded when James Philpott, on for the injured Jimmy Deabill, skilfully turned in a pass from Baker to reduce the arrears.
