After a difficult season with just one win from eight matches, Oxfordshirre's first and second teams left Radley College with a spring in their steps, after both avoided relegation.
The first team needed to win six rubbers to save themselves in Division 1C and they did exactly that.
Against Kent, they relied upon Chris Gibbins who won the only singles, took one of two doubles with Dave Soanes and then won the vital last match on court in the third game in partnership with Alison Brown.
They led 11-10, then were caught at 13-13, led 17-13 and finally won 21-15.
The 9-6 result went to Kent, but the all-important bonus point came Oxon's way and gave them six points for the season. Berkshire have just four and are relegated.
Oxon 2nd started one point behind Kent 3rd in Division 3C, but a massive 13-2 win secured all three match points.
They completed the season with five points, two more than Kent. Unbeaten were Kathryn Schutterlin, Nicola Torgersen, Simon Alexander and Derek Holt.
Headington A are the Oxford and District League Men's Division 1 champions.
Unbeaten after nine matches, Headington showed their dominance by winning 9-0 against both Abingdon A and The Park A.
The Headington pairings of brothers Colin and Jon Campbell and Dave Soanes with Ian Ross won six rubbers out of six.
