Skipper Simon Hole has challenged his Shipton-under-Wychwood side to translate their exciting potential into a promotion push.
Hole is looking for his side to improve on last year’s third-placed finish in Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League Division 2 – which would bring them a place in the top flight.
He said: “On paper we have probably got a stronger-looking side, but, as you know, that doesn’t always get you where you want to be.
“We are still going to have play some very good cricket to be there or thereabouts.”
Sport
The big double signing from Oxford of Hole’s brother, paceman Stuart, and batsman Jamie Perkin, has shown Shipton mean business.
They are also boosted by the return of Indian all-rounder Anupam Sanklecha.
Shipton start at home to Buckingham Town tomorrow, when Sam Jones, a new signing from Cumnor, will make his league debut.
IN: Stuart Hole (Oxford), J Perkin (Oxford), M Brown (Shrivenham), S Jones (Cumnor), A Hemming (free agent).
OUT: J Barrett (Bath), R Barrett (moved away), S Barrass (Aston Rowant).
TOMORROW’S TEAM
Shipton-under-Wychwood (v Buckingham Tn, home): Si Hole (capt), St Hole, Senior, Hemming, Sanklecha, Seacole, Charlie Brain, Miller, Jones, Hunt.
