West Ilsley trainer Mick Channon is hopeful of bold shows from Youmzain and Flashy Wings as they go for glory at the Dubai World Cup meeting on Saturday.

Youmzain tackles the likes of Vodafone Derby hero Sir Percy, Red Rocks and Collier Hill in the Group 1 Sheema Classic, which carries prize money of $5m, at Nad Al Sheba.

And Flashy Wings runs in the Group 1 Dubai Duty Free, another $5m contest.

Youmzain won the Group 2 Ladbrokes Great Voltigeur Stakes at York last season before taking the Group 1 IVG Preis von Europa at Cologne.

And Channon said: "He was very consistent last year and improved all season.

"He never wins very far, but he has got a great cruising speed. I am delighted with him and he has been pleasing in his work out here."

However, the West Ilsley handler warned that the Dubai Duty Free may come too soon for Flashy Wings.

"She's just a little bit hairy and we could do with a couple more weeks," he said.

"With the prize money up for grabs we have to run and she is working well, so I would be hopeful of a good run."

Jack Sullivan, from Gerard Butler's Blewbury stables, near Didcot, will miss the Godolphin Mile - a Group 2 contest he finished third in last year.

"He was found to have a high temperature prior to exercise on Friday morning, so we have unfortunately had to scratch him," explained the master of Churn Stables.
